About the art
01In Untitled 18 [light box], fine linear marks are transformed into illuminated form. What begins as dense, abstract writing becomes a sequence of precise cuts that allow light to pass through, creating circles and squares that rise and fall rhythmically. The work extends the artist’s exploration of unreadable language into space, where light replaces ink and absence becomes as expressive as presence. The interplay between darkness and illumination introduces a new emotional register, shifting the meditative quality of the lines into an immersive visual experience shaped by movement, shadow, and glow. Golnaz Fathi is an Iranian artist whose practice draws from Persian calligraphy and abstract mark-making. Trained in classical calligraphy, she developed a distinctive visual language that moves beyond legibility toward gesture, rhythm, and repetition. Her work has been exhibited internationally in major museums and galleries and is held in prominent public and private collections worldwide.
