About the art

01

In Silver Leaf Mirror, Angel Soto brings together traditional silver-leaf techniques and contemporary reflective design to create an object that actively reshapes its surroundings. At the center of the work is a convex mirror that subtly distorts and expands the viewer’s perception of space. The luminous reflective surface contrasts with the textured silver-leaf frame, generating a dynamic interaction between reflection, materiality, and geometry. Rather than offering a fixed image, the mirror produces a shifting visual experience that emphasizes movement, depth, and spatial awareness. Angel Soto is a Mexico City–based artist whose practice explores the relationship between craft, material, and perception. Working with techniques rooted in traditional craftsmanship, Soto reinterprets functional objects as sculptural forms that engage the viewer through reflection and spatial transformation. His work often blurs the boundary between utility and art, inviting a heightened awareness of form and surface.
