About the art

01

In Quatrième Églogue, Marie Passa evokes the quiet poetry of a winter forest through a restrained, minimalist composition of tall, slender tree trunks rendered in soft shades of black and white. The vertical lines guide the viewer’s gaze through the image as if moving silently through a wooded landscape. Subtle blurring and gentle tonal contrasts create a dreamlike atmosphere, where form dissolves into mood. The work invites introspection, transforming a simple natural scene into a contemplative space that feels both intimate and timeless. Marie Passa is a French photographer based in Paris whose practice is informed by her training in architecture. She studied at the École nationale supérieure d’architecture de Versailles and worked internationally with Wilmotte & Associés before turning to photography. Her work explores modernist architecture and landscape through color-filtered and monochromatic imagery that moves between reality and abstraction and is often described as meditative and poetic. Passa’s photographs have been exhibited internationally and featured at platforms including Aipad New York, Art Basel, and Paris Photo.
