About the art
01Doha Photography is part of the Doha Project, through which Dylan Vitone documents the rapid transformation of Qatar, with a particular focus on Doha as the epicenter of this accelerated change. The panoramic photographs capture a city in the midst of constant construction, where skyscrapers rise alongside expanding roads and commercial developments. Rather than simply recording urban growth, the works reflect the tension between past and present, offering a visual record of a country reshaping its identity through large-scale investment in infrastructure and people. Dylan Vitone is a photographer based in Pittsburgh, United States. He holds a BA from St. Edward’s University and an MFA from Massachusetts College of Art, and he is a Professor in the School of Design at Carnegie Mellon University. His work has been widely exhibited and collected by major institutions including the International Center of Photography, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Photography, the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of American History, the Harvard Art Museums, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, George Eastman Museum, the Carnegie Museum of Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, among others. Vitone’s practice centers on the use of specific geographic locations to explore broader social and cultural phenomena.
