About the art

01

In Untitled (13), Moza Al Kuwari brings together Arabic calligraphy and abstract texture to create a contemplative visual field rooted in Islamic artistic traditions. Layers of script move across a dynamic ground of deep red and gold, where text is treated not solely as language, but as form, rhythm, and presence. Drawing on the principles of traditional ornamentation, the work balances repetition and variation, allowing the written word to dissolve into pattern and gesture. The surface becomes a space of reflection, where spirituality, memory, and the meditative qualities of calligraphy unfold through color, texture, and movement, bridging heritage and contemporary expression. Moza Al Kuwari is a Qatari visual artist whose practice focuses on Arabic calligraphy and Islamic ornamentation. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education from Qatar University and a diploma in Traditional Arts from London. In 2019, she worked as an Islamic arts instructor at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha and is a certified trainer accredited by the SB Art Academy. Al Kuwari is the founder of the Arabesque Art Center and an active member of the Qatar Fine Arts Society, the Souq Waqif Art Center, and the Visual Arts Center.
