About the art

01

In Las Estalactitas de Qatar, Ricardo Regazzoni reimagines the natural formation of stalactites through a contemporary sculptural installation that transforms geological processes into spatial experience. Polished aluminum forms descend in elongated, spiraling sequences, evoking the slow, organic growth of cave structures suspended in time. Treated rhythmically, the elements appear to drip downward, creating a visual cadence shaped by gravity, repetition, and light. Through the interplay of reflection and shadow, the work establishes a dialogue between nature’s architecture and Qatar’s modern urban landscape, inviting viewers into a state of immersion and quiet contemplation. Ricardo Regazzoni is a Mexican sculptor and painter whose work is deeply influenced by his background in architecture and his collaborations with figures such as Luis Barragán and Vicente Rojo. He studied architecture at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and continued his studies in Paris and Washington, D.C. His artistic practice centers on light, geometry, and spatial form. Over a career spanning more than four decades, Regazzoni’s work has been exhibited internationally and is held in public collections, including the Paseo Escultórico Nezahualcóyotl and the Bosque de Aragón Sculpture Garden in Mexico City.
