Published by WISH, this report highlights key lessons from Qatar Foundation’s Ability Friendly Program, launched in 2019 and now fully embedded within QF services. The program offers inclusive opportunities for children with disabilities through tailored sports and developmental activities, building on recommendations from the 2016 WISH report, “Autism: A Global Framework for Action.”

The findings show that the initiative has strengthened community awareness and demonstrated how structured recreational participation can enhance health outcomes, support social development, and foster friendships among children with disabilities. Parents also benefit from reliable support and valuable respite time.

In light of its success and growing demand, the report points to strong potential for national expansion through local capacity building and strategic partnerships to ensure equitable access. Sports federations, schools, and community organizations can draw on these insights to design welcoming and effective programs for children with disabilities.
