About the offering
01Published by WISH, this report sets out policy recommendations to sustain the momentum for accessibility following the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, ensuring that accessibility remains a national priority aligned with the Qatar National Vision 2030. Although approximately 15 percent of the world’s population lives with a disability, many continue to face barriers to accessibility in the built environment, public spaces, information, communication, and essential services.
The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ marked a significant step toward greater inclusion, with the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy working in close partnership with organizations representing people with disabilities to ensure that stadiums and the overall fan experience, both inside and outside venues, were fully accessible. This extended to accessible hotels, transportation systems, and tourist attractions.
Building on these achievements, the report presents recommendations to maintain and expand progress beyond the tournament. These insights are relevant not only to Qatar’s national priorities but also to policymakers worldwide seeking to design accessible cities, particularly those hosting major international sporting events.
