About the offering
01Developed and delivered by the National Autistic Society in the United Kingdom, the two-day training program provides a comprehensive understanding of autism along with practical strategies for effective support. The course centers on the SPELL Framework, which stands for Structure, Positive approaches and expectations, Empathy, Low Arousal, and Links. These principles guide the delivery of meaningful and consistent support for individuals with autism.
Perspectives from individuals with autism are integrated throughout the training, enabling participants to explore how strategies can be adapted to promote understanding and responsive support. Participants learn to describe the diverse experiences of people on the autism spectrum, apply the principles of SPELL in practice, and identify effective support structures and interventions.
The course also encourages reflection on personal values and professional approaches while equipping participants to design and implement strategies that promote inclusion, encouragement, and growth. By combining theory with practical application, the program prepares professionals to create supportive environments that respect individuality and foster positive outcomes.
