About the art

01

In Bronze Bowl, Maru Marrón draws on the long-standing artistic tradition of working with vessel forms to create an object that balances function and sculptural presence. The bowl’s clean circular geometry and solid cast bronze construction emphasize weight, stability, and material warmth. Its patinated surface softens the form, inviting close attention to texture and tone. While bowl forms are often associated with domestic use, Marrón’s restrained, minimalist approach foregrounds their symbolic associations with hospitality, community, and abundance, encouraging viewers to encounter the object as a sculptural form rather than a utilitarian one. Maru Marrón is a Mexico City–based artist whose practice centers on sculptural objects that explore materiality, form, and balance. Working primarily with metal, Marrón engages traditional techniques while emphasizing clarity of shape and tactile presence. Her work reflects a sensitivity to craftsmanship and the expressive potential of everyday forms transformed through artistic intention.
