Ziyad M. Hijazi
Chief Medical Officer and Chair of the Sidra Heart Center at Sidra Medicine
Prof. Ziyad M. Hijazi is the Chief Medical Officer at Sidra Heart Center. Prof. Hijazi is an internationally recognized leader in the nonsurgical repair of congenital and structural heart defects and has pioneered several ground-breaking interventional procedures, including the development of novel trans-catheter devices.
With nearly 40 years’ experience, Prof. Hijazi now oversees the management of medical operations at the Sidra Medicine. He joined in 2014 and set up the Department of Pediatrics, Heart Centre, and Sidra Medicine’s International Medical Office, which facilitates international patients’ access to specialist services at Sidra, such as cardiology, urology, plastics and neurosurgery.
Prof. Hijazi has published over 360 papers in peer reviewed journals and nine books and runs clinical trials for novel technologies.
Prof. Hijazi obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Jordan’s School of Medicine, followed by further training and specialization from the Yale School of Medicine, US.
