Gerd Nonneman is Professor of International Relations and Gulf Studies and Chair of International Politics at Georgetown University in Qatar. His research focuses on Middle East international relations, Gulf foreign policies, the political economy of GCC states and European-Gulf relations.
He has published extensively on Middle Eastern politics and related topics, serves as editor of the Journal of Arabian Studies, and previously led the British Society for Middle Eastern Studies. He earned his Ph.D. from University of Exeter, where he later held senior academic and leadership roles. Alongside academia, he has worked in the Gulf’s private sector and consulted for governments and international organizations.
