Dr. Marc Owen Jones is an academic specialized in disinformation, propaganda, and digital authoritarianism in Arabic and English social media. Driven by issues of social justice and a specific interest in the Arabian Gulf, his research spans a number of topics, from historical revisionism and postcolonialism to digital information controls and critical data studies.

Dr. Jones is working on a number of research projects, including propaganda and Twitter bots, mapping sectarian hate speech, the diffusion of online disinformation, and digital climate ‘greenwashing’.
