Dr. Allan Villegas-Mateos is a Senior Research Fellow of entrepreneurial ecosystem studies at HEC Paris in Qatar. He is the author of the book “Qatar’s Entrepreneurial Ecosystem – Edition 2021: Empowering the Transformation.”

Dr. Allan Villegas-Mateos is currently a member of the National System of Researchers of the Mexican National Council of Science and Technology and a lifetime member of the international business honor society Beta Gamma Sigma. His research interests are the macroeconomic determinants of entrepreneurship in emerging economies, entrepreneurship education, women entrepreneurship, and university-based entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Dr. Allan has published in peer-reviewed journals like the Journal of Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies, Sustainability, and the International Journal of Entrepreneurship as well as book chapters in recognized editorials such as Emerald Publishing Limited, Edward Elgar, IGI Global, and De Gruyter.

He has presented at Babson’s College Entrepreneurship Research Conference, appearing at the Frontiers of Entrepreneurship Research Conference Proceedings and the Academy of Management Annual Meetings, among others. Dr. Allan is Qatar’s coordinator of the international research projects: Global University Entrepreneurial Students’ Survey (GUESS), the Global Leadership and Organizational Behavior Effectiveness (GLOBE), and is a certified researcher by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor Consortium.

Dr. Allan is a serial entrepreneur, consultant, and angel investor in the technology, manufacturing, and retail sectors. He has spent his free time mentoring at different international incubators and accelerators since 2015, including in Qatar, the Digital Incubation Center, TASMU Accelerator, Founder Institute Doha, and Qatar Business Incubation Center.

He holds a Bachelor’s in Business Creation and Development and a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a major in entrepreneurship and innovation from the EGADE Business School of the Technological Institute of Monterrey in Mexico and founded his first business while his last year of college with public investment seed grants obtained.
