Obakeng Leseyane is the founder of EdConnect, an initiative enhancing access to education for underserved communities in South Africa. He works at the intersection of education and policy as a consultant and advisor. He is currently studying toward his undergraduate degree at the University of Witwatersrand (Wits). Obakeng is also the graduate of the African Leadership Academy, Class of 2018, recognized as the youngest inaugural Public Service Fellow at Apolitical Academy, and named ‘One to Watch’ by FastCompany in 2018.
He has delivered a TEDx Talk titled ‘Enslaved by Poverty, Education was My Liberation.’ He is serving as a Global Ambassador for TheirWorld, a global children’s charity committed to ending the global education crisis and unleashing the potential of the next generation. Obakeng is shortlisted for the Mail and Guardian Top 200 Young South Africans list for 2020.
