Zahra Babar is the Associate Director for Research at the Centre for International and Regional Studies at Georgetown University Qatar. Her areas of focus include rural development, migration and labor policies, and citizenship in the Persian Gulf states.

Babar previously served at the International Labor Organization and the United Nations Development Program and has been at Georgetown University in Qatar since 2008. She has written extensively on migrant workers in the GCC, with over 40 published works, including articles, book chapters, and reports.

Babar received her Bachelor of Arts in Government at Smith College, US and her Master of Arts in Politics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India (School of International Studies).
