Dr. Jenny Lawler is the senior research director of the Water Center at the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), under Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU). Her research focuses on the development of novel technologies and membrane-based strategies to solve environmental problems.

Dr. Lawler has been a chemical engineering consultant for DPS Engineering (2008-2010) and a lecturer in bioprocess engineering at the school of Biotechnology in Dublin, Ireland (2010-2019). She received several prestigious awards in Ireland for her marvelous achievements such as Young Leader of the Year (2018); Irish Laboratory Awards (2018), Engineering Lab of the Year (2018), and Chairperson of the Postgraduate Degree of the Year (2017).

Some of Dr. Lawler’s publications in the biotechnology field were “The State of the Art on the Potential Human Health Impacts of Microplastics and Nanoplastics” (2021), “Recovery of viable ammonia–nitrogen products from agricultural slaughterhouse wastewater by membrane contactors: a review” (2021), and “Fabrication of graphene oxide incorporated polyethersulfone hybrid ultrafiltration membranes for humic acid removal” (2019).

Dr. Lawler received her Ph.D. in membrane separations in Ireland.
