Become a Wanda FIFA Flag Bearer

Tell us how you have been a Student of Change and be in the game to become a flag bearer at the FIFA Arab Cup™ 2021.

Introduction

01

In collaboration with Wanda, the Chinese conglomerate and FIFA Partner, we are excited to share this exciting opportunity for young people making an impact in their communities to become flag bearers for the FIFA Arab Cup 2021™.

What is a FIFA flag bearer

02

FIFA flag bearers will participate in the pre-match ceremonies ahead of each of the matches during the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021™. Prior to players taking the field, the flag bearers will set the scene by carrying and holding the FIFA flags on to the pitch.

For teenagers who love football, this is a one of kind opportunity to personally experience the behind-the-scenes of a leading international event and it is also a national opportunity to showcase the talent and spirit of Qatari youth.

To become a FIFA flag bearer, you would need to fill out an application and submit a statement of change. The Statement of Change reflects something the applicant/nominee has done that makes them stand out, specifically by taking action on change they want to see in the world. This can mean overcoming a challenge, giving back to the community, or even advocating for an important issue. Examples could include starting your own campaign about climate change; volunteering at a local charity; or overcoming a personal challenge to succeed and then becoming a role model for others.

For your Statement of Change, you could select one of five themes that best align with the cause(s) that you are passionate about: education, community, sustainability, technology, or health and wellbeing.

Frequently Asked Questions

04

These Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) might help address any other questions or concerns you might have about the initiative.

  • Q:What is the difference between nominator and applicant?
    A:

A nominator is someone who is putting forward a young person as a FIFA flag bearer.

An applicant is applying on their own behalf and must be a QF student or participating in a QF program.

  • Q:I am not sure which theme is most relevant to the application.
    A:

If you are unsure of which QF theme is relevant for your application, please try and make your best guess. Themes are there to help as guidelines for your statement of change and applications won’t be penalized if not correct.

  • Q:If I am nominator and don’t have a video or supporting documentation or if I am self-nominating, do I need a video?
    A:

Videos and/or supporting documents are encouraged as a way to enhance your statement of change. However, if these aren’t available, they are not required to submit your application.

  • Q:When will I be notified about the success of my application?
    A:

Each applicant will be notified via email approximately three weeks after the application window has closed to confirm whether the application has been successful or not.

Parents or guardians of all successful applicants will be required to complete certain documentation to enable the participation of their children. Exact details regarding the required documentation will be communicated in due course and such documentation will need to be returned to the Qatar Foundation contact prior to receiving their match day(s) allocation.

  • Q:Should the applicant be a QF student?
    A:

No. If you have ever participated or are currently participating at any of QF’s community programs such as swimming or football classes you are eligible to apply.

  • Q:Who should I reach out to if I have more questions?
    A:

If you have any other queries, please reach out to Jaber H. Hobash at jahobash@qf.org.qa.
