Qatar Foundation (QF) has today announced that Tariq Bin Ziad School in Doha is to be brought under the umbrella of its Pre-University Education (PUE) from the 2019-20 academic year onward.

By combining cultural values and local heritage with world-class education, the school will nurture homegrown talent capable of contributing to Qatar’s development, while also cultivating global citizens.

QF is committed to providing international-standard pre-university education that is rooted in Arabic cultural identity and values and the Arabic language, and Tariq Bin Ziad School represents an opportunity to continue the evolution and expansion of this model, with the aim of benefiting more children and families in Qatar.

The academic focus of the school will extend beyond the classroom and into the community, through activities and educational pathways that are intended to bring cultural heritage to life.

The school will offer a bilingual co-educational Primary Years Programme that follows the International Baccalaureate curriculum, with additional elements that reflect the enduring importance of Qatar’s heritage. Classes will commence in August 2019, and initially the school will cater for students from Pre-3 to Grade 1, after which one grade level will be added each year until Grade 5.

Buthaina Ali Al Nuaimi, President of PUE, QF, said: “We are proud to reopen Tariq Bin Ziad School under the umbrella of Qatar Foundation, and expand our reach and offering to serve our community.

“We are committed to delivering quality education rooted in Qatar’s rich culture and heritage and prepare future generations to succeed, flourish and contribute to the development of their communities.”

Maha Al Romaihi, Director, Tariq Bin Ziad School: “We’re very pleased to be bringing a school that has such a rich history and legacy under the umbrella of QF’s Pre-University Education.

“Tariq Bin Ziad has a unique vision and will increase the variety and diversity of schools in Qatar. This school will be an exemplar of how to deliver a high-quality bilingual, international education in the context of Qatari heritage, and of an educational focus that emphasizes the importance of building a strong Muslim, Arabic, and Qatari student identity through Qatari heritage programs and national programs in world-class facilities.

“The school will instill a love of learning in students from an early age by providing them with a learning environment that supports their intellectual and social education.”

Tariq Bin Ziad School joins a portfolio of schools under the umbrella of PUE that, through specially-developed curricula, meet the needs of Qatar’s multicultural community. From its five Qatar Academy schools to the recently-announced progressive school Academyati, QF’s schools provide personalized educational opportunities and equip young people with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to excel both academically and personally.
