Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF). The agreement, which aims to pave the way for cooperation between the two entities, was signed on 23 March at the Qatar Foundation Annual Research Conference 2016 (ARC’16).
The MoU will establish a framework that enables both QNRF and NRF to collaborate on programs and activities that are of mutual interest and exchange ideas and experiences. It comes as part of preparations for both parties to enter into a cooperation agreement in the near future, which will cover the entire spectrum of academic research including joint research, joint seminars, and researcher exchange, among others.
Professor Min Keun Chung, NRF President, and Dr. Abdul Sattar Al-Taie, Executive Director of QNRF, highlighted the importance of such collaboration to address areas of common interest. Alongside representatives from QNRF, a large delegation from Qatar attended the meeting, including officials from Qatar Foundation Research and Development (QF R&D), Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), Qatar University (QU), and the Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU) research institutes.
Attendees from the Republic of Korea included the NRF President, a delegation from NRF Korea, the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), and Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA).
QNRF is a member of QF R&D, and, through this agreement, demonstrates its commitment to positioning Qatar as a hub of research excellence.
