Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) has opened registration for the Qatar Green Building Conference 2016, which takes place from 13th – 15th November at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).
The annual conference, to be held under the patronage of Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation (QF), invites academic researchers, sustainability experts, environmentalists and other industry practitioners, including urban planners, architects and property consultants from Qatar and beyond.
More than 70 renowned speakers from across various industries will present on a range of sustainability topics at this year’s conference. The conference will feature four workshops and will provide Certified Continuing Education (CPD) hours. In addition, multiple sessions will be held covering the three inclusive themes: ‘Future Sustainable Cities’, ‘Green Business is Good Business’ and ‘Sustainability as a Lifestyle’.
Engineer Meshal Al Shamari, QGBC Director, said: “Building on the success of last year’s conference, we invite leading sustainability experts to the conference to discuss and exchange ideas on Qatar’s sustainability agenda. We have received an overwhelming number of interesting papers to be presented during the event, and we look forward to welcoming them at the conference.”
Delegates at this year’s event will also have the opportunity to attend a wide range of thought-provoking side events as part the Qatar Sustainability Week 2016. As QGBC’s newest annual initiative, the nationwide event will highlight the progress made by Qatar in areas of sustainability and green buildings.
Hamoda Youssef, Head of Communications at QGBC, said: “Qatar Sustainability Week is part of QGBC’s continued efforts to raise awareness on the importance of sustainability among residents and other members of the Qatari society. This event essentially encourages broader community engagement and collective action towards achieving Qatar’s sustainability goals.”
The conference will coincide with the 22nd Session of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP22), which brings together leading international speakers and policy makers to tackle global sustainability issues.
