Qur’anic Botanic Garden (QBG) has signed an agreement of mutual cooperation with Al Shabhana Association to help promote environmental sustainability and conserve plant life in Qatar.
The partnership emphasizes QBG’s efforts to foster social engagement and work with the local community to protect the environment and conserve natural resources. The agreement also recognizes the importance of achieving food security and spreading knowledge to the wider community in Qatar.
Commenting on the agreement, Ms. Fatma Saleh Al-Khulaifi, Project Manager, QBG, said: "It’s my pleasure to sign this agreement of cooperation with Al Shabhana Association.” “Uniting the mutual efforts of both parties is of great benefit to caring for the local environment, particularly in the conservation of Qur’anic Botanic Garden plants.”
She continued: “This agreement demonstrates our commitment to nurturing Qatar’s environment and creates a joint contribution to the development of the agricultural and environmental sustainability in light of the Qatar National Vision 2030.”
The Al Shabhana Association works towards combating all forms of environmental pollution and vandalism, and on cultivating and spreading endangered plants and wild trees in Qatar. It also aims to enhance the role of young people in the protection and conservation of natural resources and strengthen environmental sustainability through meaningful community partnerships, affirming its mission that Qatar's environment must be protected and preserved in all its components.
QBG is a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF). It aims to encourage social engagement and strengthen cultural and conservation awareness in Qatar, supporting QF's commitment to promoting environmental sustainability within the wider community.
