Qatar MICE Development Institute (QMDI) a joint venture with Qatar Foundation managed the second International Association of Public Transport (UITP) Large Events Summit and the second UITP Taxi Conference which took place in Doha recently.
The three-day event, which concluded on 27 November at Qatar National Convention Centre raised safety and security issues related to public transport in large events, with an emphasis on the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
This week’s event was held under the patronage of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani and the leadership and directives of the Minister of Transport HE Jassem bin Saif al Sulaiti. Ministers and high-profile delegates were in attendance, as well as senior transport officials from around the world.
The conference focused on Qatar’s growing population and economic requirements to reinforce transportation systems that continue to link industries to markets and people to services. It also brought together key stakeholders, decision makers and other international organizations for critical knowledge sharing, and to help identify and adopt best practices.
