Qatar Leadership Academy (QLA), part of Qatar Foundation's Pre-University Education (PUE), recently celebrated its 8th annual Pi Day, an occasion that is globally observed on March 14
The event was organized by QLA’s Math Department, and brought together more than 100 students from a number of schools across Qatar, including PUE schools Qatar Academy Al Khor and Qatar Academy Al Wakra, as well as Nord Anglia International School, Al Khor; Al Khor International School; English Modern School Doha; the Arab International Academy; and the Swiss International School of Qatar.
The day, which featured a series of engaging activities and games, began with students and teachers forming a human ‘pi’ symbol. It also included also math and art competitions throughout the day, one of which saw students design an eco-friendly building using geometrical shapes.
Mr. Sunil Sharma, teacher, QLA, said: “The activities for Pi Day were designed to create a motivating environment for students, and generate a curiosity about math as a whole. We hope to continue hosting this event in the future, and would like to encourage other students across Qatar to join our celebrations.”
As part of the occasion, the school was also decorated with artwork created by QLA students.
