The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) and Qatar Foundation (QF) has unveiled the design for Qatar Foundation Stadium and Health & Wellness Center, a Host Venue for the 2022 FIFA World Cup™, which will be able to stage matches up and to the quarter finals of the tournament.

The reveal of the stadium, which was managed jointly between the Supreme Committee and Qatar Foundation, took place on the fourth anniversary of Qatar winning the right to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ and is one of five stadiums that will be under construction by the SC and its partners by the end of 2014.

He continued: “In addition to supporting Qatar’s unique heritage and culture, we are proud that the environmentally sustainable concept and design of the stadium offers the inspiration for people around the world to adopt greener lifestyles.”

RFA Fenwick Iribarren Architects is the Design Consultant for QF Stadium, while Astad Project Management serves as the Project Manager. The development of QF Stadium, and the associated Health & Wellness Center, will be overseen by the Qatar Foundation Capital Projects Directorate.

Qatar Foundation Stadium Design UnveiledThe stadium will have a tournament capacity of 40,000 and as with all proposed 2022 FIFA World Cup™ venues, will feature innovative cooling technology, which will provide comfortable playing and viewing conditions for fans and players alike.

The design of the state-of-the-art stadium will see light filtered through complex geometrical patterns, an innovative and unique element of the stadium design, and will be located at Education City.
