Mathaf Launches Summer Arts and Education Program

Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art is launching a summer program for students this week, as part of the organizations commitment to host educational and community engagement programs that stimulate creativity and appreciation of modern and contemporary art in the region.
Presented by Qatar Museums under the leadership of its Chairperson, HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Mathaf’s Education Summer Programme will enable students to explore different art mediums in the Mathaf collection and learn about different concepts and practises in modern and contemporary art through observation, discussion, research and creative making activities.
Throughout the week, students will have the opportunity to experiment with drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media inspired by the museum’s collection – which is one of the world’s largest specialised collection of its kind.

Maral J. Bedoyan, Deputy Director of Learning and Outreach, said: “We look forward to hosting our Arts and Education Summer Programme this week, which will allow students to express their creative ability and be inspired by our collection of art at Mathaf, consisting of works by modern and contemporary artists from the region. It is our commitment at Mathaf to develop learning programmes that create spaces for creativity and learning for the local community, nurture emerging talent and allow students to work together to explore and develop an interest and an appreciation for art and the museum's collection."
The Program, which is free of charge and offered in English and Arabic, is open for all students between the ages of 8 and 14. Students will be split into groups depending on their age, with each group attending three sessions over the course of one week.
