Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation (QF), today attended the opening ceremony of the Education Forum on Heritage and Identity at Katara Cultural Village.
The forum, which will conclude on April 29, has been organized by The Education Development Institute (EDI), part of QF’s Pre-University Education (PUE), in cooperation with the Qatar National Committee for Education, Culture and Science – under the Ministry of Education and Higher Education – the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
The opening remarks of the forum were delivered by His Excellency Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari, Minister of State, on the importance of heritage and identity, followed by an introductory speech on national identity by Dr. Jassim Sultan, Director of Wijdan Cultural Center.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Mrs. Buthaina Ali Al Nuaimi, President, PUE, QF; Ms. Abeer Al Khalifa, Executive Director, Academic Affairs, PUE, QF; Shk. Noof Al Thani, Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships, PUE, QF; and Mehdi Benchaabane, Director, EDI, PUE, QF.
The students of QF schools also performed a traditional operetta entitled My Heritage is My Identity, which was organized by Sara Al-Hajri, Head of Qatar History and Heritage at EDI, and composed and directed by Mr. Faisal Al-Tamimi.
