HBKU Press to Hold Open Forums at Annual Book Fair

Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press(HBKU Press) will be participating in the Doha International Book Fair (DIBF) 2016 held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center from November 30 to December 10, 2016 in booth B48.
“Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press aims to support the vibrant scholarly and literary culture in Qatar by empowering local talent and by focussing on the ingenuity of the Qatari and Arab population.” explains Fakri Saleh, Head of Arabic Publishing at HBKU Press. “We hope to attract and inspire new authors to see HBKU Press as the leading choice for publishing in Qatar, and as a cornerstone of Qatar's knowledge-based economy.”

This year, HBKU Press will participate in the DIBF through open forums for those interested in a variety of topics. Young Adult author, Eissa Abdullah, will hold a session that will explore writing for the unique market of Young Adults. Abdullah will delve into the specifics of character development and tone of voice regarding this ever-expanding niche market. This is definitely a session not to be missed by anyone interested in gaining perspective as an author geared towards young adult readers.

Another forum will center around the critical biography, Saladin, written by Dr. Abdul Rahman Azzam. Saladin was one of the most famous players in Islamic history. This ground-breaking biography uncovers the real Saladin, placing him in historical context against the backdrop of the 10th and 11th-century Sunni revival, a powerful sweeping intellectual renaissance that would ultimately transform every field of Islamic thought.

For those interested in this facet of the publishing world, Dr. Alwaleed AlKhaja, Senior Editor at HBKU Press, will hold a session that will examine the developmental process of how to publish an academic book with HBKU Press.

HBKU Press will crown its participation in this year’s book fair with a much-anticipated book signing and meet and greet with best-selling Qatari author, Abdulaziz Al-Mahmoud. The critically acclaimed author of The Corsair and The Holy Sail, will launch his new children’s graphic novel Arhama, an epic tale of an adventurer who comes to appreciate the value of learning and being prepared in order to succeed.

The Doha International Book Fair 2016 opens every day from 9:00a.m. to 10:00p.m., and on Fridays from 4:00p.m. to 10:00p.m.
