Share
Legendary fashion designer and master couturier Valentino will meet students at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar (VCUQatar) on Sunday 8 March, 2015.
Valentino
He is visiting VCUQatar for a Q&A session beginning at 6:30 pm.

Mr Valentino was born in Voghera, Italy, and founded the Valentino fashion house in Rome in the late 1950s. He has since established a glittering career designing for some of the world’s most glamorous women, from royalty to Hollywood icons.

Giancarlo Giammetti, Honorary President of the Valentino Fashion House, will participate in the Q&A session, hosted and moderated by Sandra Wilkins, Chair of Fashion Design at VCUQ. The conversation will focus on the Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum and possibly address the conference theme of 3ajeeb.

The visit coincides with the Tasmeem Doha biennial international art and design conference that runs from 8 -12 March, organized by VCUQatar, in partnership with the Qatar Foundation.

Doors will open for members of the community to participate in the Q&A session at 6pm on Sunday. As there are a limited number of seats available, places will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

The 2015 edition of Tasmeem Doha focuses on the theme of ‘playfulness’ as expressed by the Arabizi term 3ajeeb! (ahh-jhee-b) meaning ‘strange in a strange way, cool in a cool way, and slightly weird in a slightly weird way.’

Tasmeem Doha 3ajeeb! will foster discussions on such ‘playful’ processes as a creative means to generate knowledge, technologies and discoveries.

The conference brings together leading designers, artists and creative thinkers, and features several distinct programs that coalesce into five days of workshops, presentations, performances and exhibitions. For more detailed information please visit www.tasmeemdoha.com.

The event supports Qatar Foundation’s mission to unlock human potential through the development of world-class talent in Art and Design, and will also allow the wider public to observe at first hand the latest global developments in this field.
