The dream of becoming a doctor moved a step closer for 20 students at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q) as they completed the college’s Foundation Program.
The Foundation Program helps students to raise their English language skills to the level required for the pre-medical program and medical school, and also provides a strong grounding in the sciences.
The aim is to ensure the students have the best chance of success if accepted onto WCMC-Q’s pre-medical program.
On Thursday 8 May, the Foundation Program students, the majority of whom are Qatari, received their completion certificates in front of friends and family at a special ceremony at WCMC-Q.
Student Mohammed Al-Kubaisi said the nine-month long program had flown by.
Addressing the audience he said: “We are here today because we are about to complete the Foundation Program, and then move on to the next stage of the journey; the journey that will eventually see us obtain a degree in medicine and become doctors. Then we will be able to repay our nation and community and serve humanity.”
