The Qatar Foundation Research and Development’s (QF R&D) Annual Research Conference 2016 (ARC’16) concluded today following the announcement of the ARC’16 Awards. They include the ‘Best Research Office of the Year Award’, ‘Undergraduate Research Experience Programme (UREP) Competition Awards’, ‘The Best Representative Image of an Outcome (BRIO) Competition Awards’ and recognitions for the Qatar STEAM Fair and the Qatar Research Leadership Programme (QRLP) Graduates.
Presented by Dr. Nabeel Al Salem, Chair of the ARC’16 Organizing Committee and Executive Director of Outreach and Communications at QF R&D, the ARC’16 Awards included three categories, ‘Student Poster Presentations’, ‘Regular Poster Presentations’ and ‘Best Research Presentation’ in the fields of Energy and Environment, Computing and Information Technology, Health, and Social Science,Arts and Humanities.
The competition was designed to showcase the outcomes of QNRF-funded research by utilizing the images in QNRF’s own publications and media channels and highlight their significance in a creative way. Images submitted were either photographs or illustrations.
The recently announced Qatar STEAM Fair winners were also in attendance. Organized in collaboration with QNRF and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the three-day Fair encouraged students to develop projects reflecting the wide range of skills necessary to succeed in the field of science.
The Grand champions are set to represent Qatar at the renowned Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) to be held from May 8 to 13, 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA,and the Intel Arab Fair set to take place later this year.
