In our August lecture, Tamer El-Gebali, a scholar of Arabic codicology and lecturer at the Institute of Arabic Manuscripts in Cairo, will talk about "Arabic Transcription Traditions". The lecture presents a theoretical and applied framework for the most important traditions followed by the copyists of Arabic manuscripts, which researchers usually come across in manuscripts they study or consult. Al-Gabali will also present dozens of examples of manuscripts to explain how researchers can benefit from such findings. The manuscripts will be presented and discussed within their various textual making environment context.
