Now Assistant Director of the Media and Communication Office at the Amiri Diwan, Jassim Al-Rumaihi began to follow in his father’s footsteps as a sports journalist at the age of 12, working at Al Saqr sport magazine and Qatar Television during his summer holidays; and by the age of 16 he was interning at Al Jazeera Sports as a full-time journalist.
Following his graduation from high school, he worked at Al Kass Sport Channel for a year before being part of Northwestern University in Qatar’s inaugural class, graduating in 2012. He spent six years working at Al Jazeera News Channel as a news producer and reporter, covering the war in Yemen, Tunisia’s first parliamentary elections, and the Nepalese earthquake. He also collaborated with Doha Film Institute to make two documentaries that were named Best Documentary Made in Qatar at the 2015 and 2016 editions of the Ajyal Film Festival.
In 2017, he moved to the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, the organization responsible for hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, supporting the development of its media team, before assuming his current role in December 2020.
