What is Texas A&M University at Qatar?
Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) opened in 2003, offering Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering.
TAMUQ also runs research projects that contribute to Qatar’s thriving industries and economy, including developing more effective methods of oil and gas production, investigating alternative energy sources and examining ways to create greater levels of energy efficiency in industrial facilities and buildings.
Engineers and researchers of the future
TAMUQ is building a home-grown research capacity inside Qatar, with engineers and researchers of the future trained in state-of-the-art laboratories on the Qatar Foundation campus.
Partnerships with local businesses, industry and government agencies, including the Qatar National Food Security Program, the Ministry of the Interior, BP and RasGas, promote long-term, sustainable research programs relevant to the interests and future development of Qatar.
Research projects that address specific issues in Qatar include: advanced water treatment technologies, telecommunications, transportation and roads, electric power generation and distribution and machinery.
