What is The Royal Society of London?
The Royal Society is the independent scientific academy dedicated to promoting excellence in science. Based in the UK, the Society plays an influential role in national and international science policy.
A better understanding of scientific research
Qatar Foundation and the Royal Society of London signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 2 April 2008, agreeing to join together to promote a better understanding of scientific research and activities across the UK, Qatar and on an international level.
As a result of the agreement, the Royal Society will involve its extensive international network of scientists and research fellows in future QF projects, guaranteeing a high level of expertise and cooperation.
Atlas of the Islamic World Science and Innovation project
QF is a lead partner on the Royal Society’s Atlas of the Islamic World Science and Innovation project, which aims to map key trends in science and technology.
The project will work with partners in fifteen countries across Africa and Asia that have large Muslim populations, including Qatar, to explore the relationship of science with culture, politics and economic development.
