Sidra Medical and Research Center
What is Sidra Medical and Research Center?
The addition of Sidra Medical and Research Center to Education City is perhaps our most ambitious and far-reaching project to date.
Chairperson, Qatar Foundation
Sidra Medical and Research Center (Sidra) is a landmark development, planning to focus on three primary areas: patient care, medical education and biomedical research.
First academic medical center in the Middle East
Scheduled to open at the end of 2012, Sidra will be the first academic medical center in the Middle East.
Designed and planned to the best international standards of health science, it will be a true center of excellence for women’s and children’s health.
Sidra will also offer select medical and surgical services for adult men and women.
It will incorporate the most sophisticated digital technology in all clinical, business and research functions and will enhance the quality of all medical services available in Qatar.
Leader in biomedical research
The center will strive to become a leader in biomedical research in the region. Medical staff will work with the Hamad Medical Corporation and Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar to develop best practice and state-of-the-art research facilities.
Research at Sidra will focus on conditions and issues that afflict the Arab World, including diabetes, cancer research, clinical research, epidemiology and foetal-maternal health.
