Al-Jazeera Children's Channel (JCC) is a pan-Arabic 'edutainment' channel that targets Arab children between the ages of seven and 15 years, encouraging learning and discovery while teaching young audiences about different environments and cultures.
JCC produces and broadcasts an extensive range of children's programs in Arabic. More than 40 percent of broadcast programs are its own productions, with almost half of its programming new material. JCC delivers relevant content that resonates with the needs of its audience's daily life and is consistent with their culture.
Signature productions include: a debate show that encourages freedom of expression by allowing Arab tweens to voice their thoughts and concerns; thematic, educational magazines that cover a range of subjects, including science, technology, health and sport; competitions and quiz programs that provide audiences with general knowledge and lots of fun; and animation and cartoon TV series at Arab production houses. JCC contributes to international co-productions with other children's channels around the world that share its mission.
Launched in 2005, JCC enjoys state-of-the-art studios and facilities at its headquarters in Qatar Foundation's Education City. It is free to view on Arabsat, Nilesat, Hotbird and Eurobird in all Arab countries and is distributed by many operators throughout Europe.
JCC offers a range of multimedia and digital content through its interactive website (jcctv.net), which supports its aim to provide a supplementary source of learning, discovery, and creativity. The bilingual website offers more than 200 hours of educational and entertaining broadcast material, and features the latest multimedia tools.
