TEST TAKING SKILLS & TIPS
To do yourself justice in the test, please consider the following preparations:-
- Before sitting any test, be sure to have had a good night's rest. This will help you think clearly. It is very helpful to eat a good, well-balanced breakfast as this will boost your alertness.
- If you are taking the test at a testing facility, it is best to arrive early and familiarize yourself with the area, to avoid losing time if you need the bathroom.
- Bring all the supplies you will need, including extra sharpened pencils in case your pencil breaks.
- The majority of standardized tests recommend how much time to spend on each section. Observing these recommendations will ensure you are able to answer all questions, and should enable you to allocate extra time to questions you find difficult.
- Timed events cause some people anxiety. If this happens, put your pencil down and relax. Take a few breaths and get up and move around without disturbing others who are taking the test.
- To ensure your answers are properly recorded, mark your responses clearly. Make sure you fill in the circles completely, and make sure you have filled in the correct circle for the numbered question that you are answering.
Afterwards, if you feel you have not done yourself justice, you may contact the main testing headquarters (where you registered on line - not Qatar Foundation) and ask that your test not be scored. Tell them you would like to retake the test which will be re-scheduled. A note will be made on your record that you requested a retake. It is better to record this than a poor score.
