NORTH WESTERN UNIVERSITY IN QATAR
Northwestern University in Qatar begins teaching its programs in journalism and communication in fall 2008, becoming the latest branch campus to join Education City.
The Bachelor of Science in Journalism program trains students in core journalistic skills within a liberal arts context. The Bachelor of Science in Communication program prepares students to work in a variety of creative and management roles in the media and entertainment industries.
Qatar is rapidly becoming a media hub of the Gulf and needs professionals for its media and communications industries. A vibrant media scene will bring about greater transparency and accountability, which are hallmarks of successful societies and essential to successful implementation of Qatar Foundation's mission.
Northwestern University's home campuses are at Evanston, Illinois, and in the city of Chicago. It is a private institution, founded in 1851.
Learning at QFIS takes place in an open, intellectual atmosphere, incorporating respect and social responsibility in accordance with Islamic principles.
The Medill School at Northwestern is a top-ranked program offering study in Journalism, Media and Integrated Marketing Communication. Northwestern's School of Communication, also a top-ranked program, offers a program in Media Industries and Technologies at NU-Qatar.
