Dr Thomas Zacharia
Executive Vice President of Research and Development
Dr Thomas Zacharia serves as the Executive Vice President of Research and Development at Qatar Foundation, where he contributes to QF’s overall mission by advancing and promoting the organization’s research initiatives.
Before joining Qatar Foundation, Thomas was a senior administrator at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Previously a Professor at the University of Tennessee and College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Dr Zacharia has published extensively on his research, won patents for inventions and been widely recognized as an expert in his field. In addition to serving as a postgraduate and postdoctoral advisor to dozens of students, Thomas has served on the boards of academic and industry institutions and groups.
Thomas earned his PhD in Engineering from Clarkson University, his MA in Materials Science from the University of Mississippi and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Regional Engineering College. He is a fellow of the American Welding Society and a member of the American Society for Mechanical Engineers, the American Association of the Advancement of Science, and the American Society for Metals.
